Robert Orville Mowell

Robert Orville Mowell passed away on September 11, 2013, at the age of 84. He was born in Kingsport, Tennessee and lived there most of his life. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He attended Kingsport City schools and ETSU, where he earned BS and MA degrees. Bob retired from AFG and Kingsport City Schools, where he taught electronics at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Mowell and Lou Eidson Mowell; sisters, Helen Mowell Arnold, Jessie Mowell Cooter and Kate Mowell Reeves; and brother, Harry Mowell.
Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Cantwell Mowell; his daughters, Mitzi Mowell Mathews and husband, Ron, and Betsy Mowell Klein and husband, Vern; and grandchildren Eric, Reid and Kelly Mathews, and Emily and Laura Klein. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Mowell Peters and husband, Jimmy; sister-in-law, Nina C. Styke; brother-in-law, David C. Cantwell and wife, Marion; and also several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family graveside service will be on Friday at the VA Mountain Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm at Bethel Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will follow at 3:30 pm with Rev. Kaye Florence officiating.
