Robert "Bob" Parker

Robert "Bob" Parker, 73, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at U.T. Medical Center. Born in Jonesborough, TN, he was a resident of Kingsport for most of his adult life. He was self employed as the owner of Bob Parker Insurance Agency for 43 years. Most recently, he moved to Knoxville, TN to be close to his daughters.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Jonesborough High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church and loved the fellowship of those in his Friendship Sunday School class.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Brooks Parker; mother, Gladys Parker; brother, Johnny Parker; niece, Trudy Gosnell Seaton; and brother-in-law, Erwin Gosnell.

Surviving are two daughters, Precia Jane Parker, and Sherri Parker McKamey and husband, James, and granddaughter, Parker Brooke McKamey, all of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Wilma Jean Gosnell, of Greeneville, TN; Mary Ruth Austin of West Palm Beach, FL; Judy Bacon of Johnson City, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8th from 12-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
