Robert Brown Price, Sr., 85, Kingsport, left his earthly home on Sunday February 10, 2008.

He was born in Roanoke, VA, and had moved to Kingsport in 1933.

Mr. Price worked at Tennessee Eastman Co for 43-1/2 years, retiring on March 30, 1983, from Eastman Kodak. He was a charter member of Mafair United Methodist Church and had served as head usher for 45 years and the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He loved the little children and the young people, giving them lollipops every Sunday, and they called him the "Lolly Pop King". He served as the first scout master of Troop 250.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years and was discharged as a Boatsman in World War II.

Mr. Price was a life member of the Charles DeWitt Byrd Veterans of Foreign Wars #3382, the American Legion Hammond Post No. 3/265, and the Moose Lodge #972, where he had received their highest degree in 1974 as a Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He was on the Degree Team for 14 years. Robert was privileged to offer the opening prayer at the dedication of the East Tennessee State University, Kingsport.

He was a charter member of the Crossing Golf Club and was on the course five days a week until he was unable to because of health problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M.and Annie J. Price.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Glenna Broyles Price, Kingsport; one daughter, Lisa Jane Quiggle and husband, Richard, Kingsport; two sons, James M. Price and wife, Patrice, Naples, FL, and Robert B. Price, Jr., and wife, Kathy, Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vivian Price Davis and husband, Harold, New Philadelphia, OH, Dolores Price Smith, Silver Spring, MD, and Glenna Ann Price Watson, Rusk, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Mafair United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Emmett Kimberling, Leon Gray, Ray Castle, Dennis Hagameyer, John Richards, Philip Alamany, and Carlton Purvis. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert White, Harold Crabtree, Maynard Hawkins, Paul Jeter, Robert Seale, Sr., Robert Seale, Jr., Edward Feagins, Lee White, James Qualls, and Jimmy Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mafair United Methodist Church, 1409 East Center Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.
