Robert ?Bob? Garland Rogers, 82, Kingsport died early Monday morning, December 24, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was a native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Bob was a retired employee of Kingsport Press, a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II, and was an active member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church where he had been very involved in the Carpenter?s Helper Ministry.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jean Jones Rogers; his parents, William Anderson Rogers and Mary Bellamy Rogers ; three brothers, John Lester Rogers, James Edward Rogers, and William Lyle Rogers; two sisters, Agnes Rogers Short and Gertrude Rogers Stines; one nephew, Edward Nolan; and one niece, Billie Jo Short.

Surviving are sisters-in-law, Nettie Nance Rogers of Charlotte, NC, Vena W. Rogers of Nashville; nieces, Nancy Rogers McArthur and family of Roseland, New Jersey, Mary Kathryn Rogers and family of Charlotte, NC, Sharon Rogers Sorace and family of Nashville; three great-nephews; three great-nieces; and many special friends including the Lowes, the Howes, and the Taylors.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. A. Clark Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
