Robert Dean Roush

Robert Dean Roush, 85, of Kingsport, TN formerly of Brooksville, FL, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.

Born in Canton, OH, he graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in plant physiology, agronomy, and soil conservation. He later did graduate work at the University of Florida, the University of Ohio, and Purdue University. Life and activities: He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. Robert was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, TN, where he also sang in the choir. He had served as Deacon and Elder the First Presbyterian churches of Arcadia and Brooksville, FL. He worked for the University of Florida Agriculture Department and as Plant Materials Manager for the United States Department of Agriculture, at Arcadia and Brooksville, FL. Robert married his college sweetheart, and they celebrated their 60th anniversary together on March 18th of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edwin and Martha Elizabeth Roush, and a sister Esther Lucille Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Roush, Kingsport; daughters, Beth Galloway and husband, Tony Kingsport; Robbie Morgan Vicenza, Italy; Mary Hall and husband, Jim Atlanta, Georgia; Deana Wright and husband, Tim Allen, Texas; sons, John Roush Raleigh, NC; and Joe Roush Kingsport; a sister, Maryalice Roush Orrville, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm Sunday, May 1, 2011 at New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lynn Garden. The service will begin at 3 pm with Rev. Richard Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Church Hill Memorial Gardens.
