Robert Bob Eugene Shepard, 67, of the Pine Grove Community, Greeneville was born June 9, 1940 in Johnson City and died early Tuesday morning, September 11, 2007 at his home.

Bob had resided for 30 years in Greene County and served in the U. S. Navy from April 7, 1959 to April 6, 1965 aboard the USS Wasp. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company on December 31, 1997 after 32 years service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lottie Hammitt Shepard; aunt and uncle who raised him, William ?Bill? and Emma Metcalf; daughter, Leslie Kay Shepard Hyder; brother, Andrew Earl Bennett; and sister, Thelma Peters.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Connie Bright Shepard; two sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Deanna Shepard of Greeneville and Don Shepard of Jonesborough; two daughters and son-in-law, Jeannie and Doug Carter of Greeneville and Sherrie Valentine of Johnson City; grandchildren, Cody, Tucker, and Bo Shepard of Greeneville, Spencer and Jordan Shepard of Jonesborough, Chasity Whetsell, and Brandon Valentine both of Johnson City; step-grandchildren, Adam and Brittany Carter of Greeneville; step-great-grandson, Brayden Carter of Greeneville; brother and sisters-in-law, Carl and Brenda Shepard of Hampton and Jessie Bennett of Johnson City; brother-in-law and wife, David and Janet Bright; sister-in-law and husband, Judy and Harold Johnson, all of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday September 12, 2007 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fall Branch Chapel with Rev. Wayne Waycaster and Brother Ronnie Baxter officiating. Music will be provided by Wes Light.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post # 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Cody Shepard, Rex Bernard, Dale Painter, Joshua Bright, Matthew Bright, and Rickey Charlton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Tate, O. H. Peters, Harold Johnson, David Bright, Lee Cowan, Steve Coates, Gary Blair, Jerry Robinette, Judy Greenlee, Clinton Franklin, Donna Gilliam, Rev. Roger Dykes, Eddie Charlton, and Mickey Charlton.
