Robert “Bob” Leland Smith, age 89, of Church Hill, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Holston Rehab & Care Center following a period of declining health. Born in Spotsylvania, Virginia on July 25, 1935, a son of the late Carmel Fredrick and Evelyn Bourne Singleton Smith, he has resided in this area most of his life. 

Bob was in the U.S. Navy from 1955 – 1959. He achieved the rank of G-4 as a Boatswain Mate Third Class. Robert was a Korean war veteran and had many fond memories of his service to the United States of America. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmel and Evelyn Bourne Singleton Smith; wife, Catherine Lester Smith; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bourne; and brother, Carmel Smith Jr.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Wanda Clinch and Sharon Smith; sons, Larry L. Smith (Tracy) and Robert T. Smith (Deb); grandchildren, Crystal, Nicole, Kelci, Christopher, Megan and McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Damion, Bill, Norah and Leland; sisters, Christine Marshall, Freda Smith and Joni Singleton; brothers, James Smith, Larry Smith (Barbara) and Johnny Singleton; and special friends, James and Kathy Dishner. 

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 1:00pm at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery, Scottsville, VA, with Rev. Ryan Heath officiating. Military Honors by the Virginia Military Honors Group.
