Robert "Bob" Allen Warden

Robert "Bob" Allen Warden passed away on January 19, 2024 after an extended illness. 

Bob was born in Glen Ridge NJ March 18, 1945.  He married the love of his life on May 25, 1968 and they were together 58 years.  Bob and Gabe moved to TN in 1981 to support Gabe’s ministry work.  Bob served in the United States Marine Corp 1962-1966.  He also worked at The USPS for a short time but he always had a love for building things so he chose a career in construction. Some of Bob's hobbies included tennis, fishing, being outdoors camping with his family and traveling with his love, Gabriele.   

His main interest was being an avid Amateur Ham Radio Operator which he did for over 40 yrs.  He had many accomplishments in the field of Ham Radio including awards for Summits On The Air (SOTA), Parks On The Air (POTA), Worked All States (WAS), Worked All Continents (WAC), bouncing signals off the moon, and many other awards. His main form of communication in Ham Radio was Morse Code.  Bob’s friends from the Amateur Radio community, especially the Kingsport Amateur Radio Club and participants in Summits On The Air will miss him as he was very well respected.

Bob was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Danielle Bough, and his parents, Rita W. Hesterfer Warden and Robert Warden.

He is survived by his wife, Gabriele Warden; daughters, Shelly Bough and her husband, Chris, and Lori Wechsler and her husband, Aaron; 1 granddaughter, Karlie Holmberg and her husband, Jordan; brother, Tom Warden and his wife, Maryann; and 2 nephews, Steven and Michael.

The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.  A memorial service will follow with Ray Schneider officiating.
