Roe D. Wilhelm, 97, of Kingsport, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 13, 2010, at Brookhaven Nursing Home.
Roe was a native of Scott County, Virginia. She was born August 20, 1913, in Hiltons, VA, the last surviving child of the late Amos M. and Eliza Baker Dennison. Her mother passed away when she was 2 years old, and she was raised by her foster parents, John and Nannie Darnell, of Hiltons, VA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. "Bob" Wilhelm; brothers, Wilmer and Charlie Dennison; sisters Myrtle Myers, Beulah Patrick, and Ocie Salley.
She is survived by her son, L. Ray Wilhelm and his wife, Betty; grandson, Robert Wilhelm and wife, Derinda; granddaughter, Nancy W. Fry and husband, Jake; great-granddaughter, Heather N. Wilhelm; great-grandsons, Jonathan R. Wilhelm and wife, Mary, John R. Fry, Jacob S. Fry, and Joseph M. Fry; great-great-grandson, Jackson S. Wilhelm, all of Kingsport; and brother, J.W. Dennison and wife, Coleen, of Gray.
There will be no formal visitation. Family and friends may call anytime after 1:00 Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Graveside services and interment will be private.
