Roger (Mike) Bailey, 72, Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Beckley, WV on June 5, 1946 and was the son of the late Dorvin and Euva Bailey. He proudly served his country in Korea and Vietnam. Mike worked at Holston Defense and retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1999 after 32 years of service. He was a founding member of Family Life Center and a faithful member of Apostolic Gospel Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Harold and his twin brother, Rodney (Ike) Bailey; and sister, Lois Jones and Jean Waldron.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Faye Hicks Bailey; son, Porter Bailey and wife, Karen; daughter, Linda Jo Willis and husband, Mark; three awesome grandchildren, Bailey Willis, Michael Paul Willis and Olivia Willis; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Reynolds and husband, Doug, Amy Zubko and Eddie Zubko; great-granddaughter, Ally Reynolds; brother, Robert (Pete) Bailey and wife, Marguerite; sisters, Ann Frazier and Linda Hicks and husband, Jim; brother-in-law, Jackie Hicks; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Fugate, and Patricia Robinette and husband, Harold; special nephew, Doug Fugate; his best man and lifelong buddy, Phil Robinson; his dog and constant companion, Bella; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Aunt Ann, Uncle Pete, Doug, and his extended family from Way Home Holiness Church.
The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Apostolic Gospel Church, 1780 Granby Rd., Kingsport, TN, with Rev. Greg Street and son-in-law, Rev. Mark Willis officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Breakfast Group.
