Roger Dingus

Roger Anthony Dingus, 48, went home to be with the Lord (Monday May 14th, 2018) at Holston Valley Hospital.

A 1989 graduate of Sullivan North, he has lived in this area most of his life. He worked for Oakwood Supermarket and then for years at the Hawkins County Press.

Roger gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and loved the preaching of God's word and to listen to southern gospel music. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

He volunteered for many years with the Bloomingdale and Warrior's Path Fire Departments.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Bobby Dingus; sister, Nancy Lynn Dingus; his paternal grandparents, William Patrick and Grace Lawson Dingus; and his maternal grandparents, Charles Fred and Zonia Bruner Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Ann Dingus; mother, Inez Dingus; brothers, Mark Dingus, and Joel Dingus and wife, Kellie; aunts, Joyce Dingus, Marie Helton, Kay Smith Wallen; uncles, Michael Dingus, Harold Smith and wife, Trudy, and Gerald Smith; nieces, Marleigh and Meribeth; and nephews, Tyler and Patrick.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7pm with Bro. Cecil Sturgill officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm Friday at Holston View Cemetery. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15pm.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dingus, Joel Dingus, Chris Smith, Jamie Smith, Michael Wayne Oliver, Michael Dingus and Jerod Birch. Honorary Pallbearers are his fellow members of the Bloomingdale and Warrior's Path Volunteer Fire Departments.
