Ron Ferrell

Ron Ferrell, 62, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2011 at his home.

Ron was born and raised in the Orebank Community and graduated from Ketron High School in 1966. He was drafted into the military in 1967 and served overseas for Stratcom Communications during the Vietnam War. After returning home he began a career in music along with working at AFG. In 1982 he began singing professionally with the Chance Brothers. Later in life, Ron began Ferrell Vinyl Installation. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended and competed in car shows. Ron sang in the Praise Team at Promise Ministries where he was a member, rededicating his life and was baptized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Alfred Ferrell.

Survivors include his wife, Malinda Ferrell of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Misti Ferrell of Mt. Carmel; sons, Kevin Ferrell and fiancée Johnna of Kingsport, Chad Ferrell and wife Holly of Kingsport, Ryan Ferrell and fiancée Stephanie of Kingsport; grandchildren, Madelyn Ferrell, Cannon Ferrell, Jacoby Ferrell, Tristan Ferrell, Riley Ferrell. There were also two additional grandchildren Ariana Carter and Caylob Byrns, who he never got to know but loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The service will begin at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Lay officiating. The eulogy will be provided by Ron Algood, his lifelong friend and brother.

A military committal service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes with rites provided by the American Legion Posts #2/365.

Honorary pallbearers will be his church family at Promise Ministries.
