Ronald W. Brookman, 67, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday May 25, 2008 after an extended illness.
He had lived in Kingsport for most of his life, serving in the U.S. Army honorably for 3 years. He worked in construction and loved to fish, camp, and he loved NASCAR.
Ronald was saved in 1997 and attended Bays Mountain Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rebecca Brookman; and niece, Cheyenne Dykes Ketron.
Surviving are his son, Ronald Brookman II, Bristol; sisters, Nora Grindstaff and husband, Roy, Deltona, FL, Cynthia Bowman and husband, Ronald, Gray, Barbara Dykes and husband, Ronald, Kingsport, Trish Smith, Kingsport, and Linda Bushong, Kingsport; brothers, Ernest Brookman, Kingsport, and Leonard Brookman and wife, Diane, Church Hill; special aunt, Dorothy Simms, Radford, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gather Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 985, Kingsport, TN 37662.
