Ronald C. Bussey

Ron Bussey, 73, Blountville, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Karl and Hazel Bussey. Ron was a high school anatomy and physiology teacher in Clawson, MI, Rehoboth Beach, DE and Milford, MI. He was also a wrestling coach, starting the programs in Clawson, and Rehoboth. He also served as a police officer in Rehoboth. Ron was inducted into the Milford High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as their wrestling coach.

Ron was a passionate motorcycle and scooter enthusiast. He served on the board of the Vintage Motor Bike Association and had a lifetime membership. Ron rode over two million miles, crossing the country on various motorcycles. His longest trip was Route 66 from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA.

He was also a violinist and played in symphonies in Battle Creek, MI, Wilmington, DE, Dover, DE and most recently was a member of the First Broad Street Methodist Church Orchestra.

Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laura Tenhopen Bussey; daughter, Karla Cook and husband, Trent; son, Eric and wife, Kathy Lezovich; grandchildren, Kevin, Trevor and Brianna Cook, and Jake and Joey Bussey.

An inurnment service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Columbarium. Honorary pallbearers will be his wrestlers.

The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Rev. Joe Green officiating.

Visitation will follow in the parlor at First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
