Ronald Holtzclaw, 71, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at Duke University Hospital, after complications from a 13 year lung transplant. Born to Clyde and Verna Holtzclaw, Ron was the youngest of ten children. He had resided most of his life in Kingsport. He was a 1966 graduate of Ketron High School and a Marine Corps Veteran. Ron was employed at Eastman Chemical Company, where he retired after 32 years. He was a member of Emory United Methodist Church. Ron had several hobbies, he mostly enjoyed fishing, and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin grandchildren, Chancie and Gracie; and eight siblings.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Taylor Holtzclaw; three sons, Michael and wife Cindy of Warner Robins, GA, Aaron and wife Pam, and Brent and wife Rochelle, both of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Peyton, Taylor, Kayley, Ella, Eli, and Drew; one sister, Jo Ann Seaver of Matthews, NC; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to him.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Tallent and Rev. Randall Wright officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors by Boone Dam VFW.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his best, lifelong friends, Tom Stacy and Jerry Jennings.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Pulmonary Wing at Duke University for their commitment and services provided during his lung transplant and his 13 additional years of life.
