Rose Porter Gentry

KNOXVILLE- Rose Porter Gentry, 87, formerly of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 28, 2014. A native of Sylvatus, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. and Eestey J. Jessee Porter. Rose was a former member of First Christian Church of Kingsport and was very devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gentry, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers.

Rose is survived by her son, Bruce Gentry of Syracuse, NY; daughter Peggy Gentry Love and husband Kenneth of Knoxville; granddaughter Bethann Love Gillispie and husband Brad of Hendersonville; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Collin, and Kendall Rose Gillispie of Hendersonville; sister Helen Walters of Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Avalon Hospice, 192B Market Place Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37922 or American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909.

Those who wish to pay their last respects may do so Thursday, May 29, 6-8:00pm, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, the family will not be present.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 30, 1:00pm, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Minister Phillip Sams officiating.
