Rose Jeanette Boyance Johnson, 95, Kingsport, passed away Saturday December 12, 2009 at her home.
Rose was born in Marshfield, WI of hardworking immigrant farmers. There she and her husband built a successful Hereford cattle farm and real estate business. They raised their five children to be successful and know the value of hard work. In the 60's, they retired and traveled for over 20 years until settling in Post Haddock, WA. They spent summers in Alaska, where they flew their 185 Cessna one summer from Washington.
On March 6, 2004, Rose moved to Kingsport, TN to live with Ron and Sharon. Here she enjoyed a life of leisure, music, and dancing, especially Elvis, traveling in the mountains and getting to know her grandchildren. She made many friends and brightened many lives. Rose had a great sense of humor, never complained, and had a deep love for her family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed, but she left us with many cherished memories. She will always be remembered for her sweet smiles and gratitude, her pride in a job well done, her love of the outdoors, especially songbirds and flowers, coffee, strawberries, and chocolate. She had a magical knack for finding four-leaf clovers. She showed her appreciation for those she loved by saying, "You made my day!" All of Rose's family is grateful to her long-time special caregiver, Risa McClain, as was Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Floyd H. Johnson.
Surviving are her son, Ronald F. Johnson and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Brian and Rhonda Johnson, Kingsport; daughter, Nancy C. Stuart; grandchildren, Kelly Stuart, Kim Hammon, Kristy Stuart; great-grandchildren, Sophia Stuart and Ila May Hammon, of CA; son, Eugene H. Allen Johnson and wife, Suzanne; grandson, Brandon and wife, Ashleigh, of Olympia, WA; daughter, Diane L. Johnson of Olympia, WA; grandson, Steven and wife, Vikki; great-grandson, Josh, of Marshfield, WI; granddaughter, Rhonda Rose Hazen; great-grandchildren triplets, Kayla Rose, Tyler Michael, and Jack Thomas; and little Blake Andrew, of Madison, WI.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Chaplain Dwight MacPherson officiating. Her out-of-state children will hold an inurnment service at a future date.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the cause of your choice.
