Rosemary Vicars

Rosemary Vicars, 72, of Kingsport, passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Sullivan County, TN on April 27, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Sam Taylor and Lorene Elkins Taylor.

Rosemary was a homemaker and a member of Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mom, "gana", and friend who decorated cakes, arranged flowers, and a mother to anyone who would allow her to be.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Vicars; granddaughter, Taylor Hodges; brother, Benny Taylor and wife Charlotte; sisters, Patsy Chaffin and Phyllis Marshall and husband Roy.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lowell Vicars; children, Dawn Hodges and husband Tim of Kingsport, Chris Vicars and wife Brooke of Church Hill, and Darin Vicars and wife Tonya of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Jamey Vicars, Kyle Mounger, Caleb Hodges, Mikayleigh Mounger, and Kinzee Mounger; an aunt, Edith Mae "Sis" Stewart of Clinchport, VA; a sister-in-law, Shelby Smith and husband Lee of Jonesborough; a brother-in-law, Lincoln Chaffin of Gray; several nieces and nephews; numerous other relatives and friends; and her dog "Ginger".

The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Morrison Chapel United Methodist Church and at other times at the home of Chris and Brooke Vicars. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ray Amos, Jr., Rev. Bill Porter, and Rev. Roy Fowler officiating. Music will be provided by Kim Amos, Dick Blaney, and Cynthia Berry.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending the graveside service are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Rosemary's memory to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
