Rosie Elizabeth Holland, 85, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 after an extended illness.
Born December 15, 1923 in Sullivan County where she had resided all her life, Rosie was employed at Holston Valley Hospital until the birth of her sons. She was a devoted Godly person and loved to talk about her Christ and Saviour and his word.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle Sr. and Florence Morelock; sisters, Eula "Jack" Bishop, Nannie "Bill" Kate Hite; half-sister, Eula Faye Hall; brothers, Ed Morelock, J. D. Morelock, Sammy Morelock, Dewey Morelock and Kyle Junior Morelock.
Surviving are her sons, Gary K. Holland and wife Sherrie and Randy Kyle Holland and wife Angie; grandchildren, Billy Holland, Tammie Brown and husband Rob, and Chandler Elizabeth Holland; great-grandson, Ryne Brown; nephew who was raised as her son, Johnny Morelock and wife Patricia; sisters, Irene Adams and husband Alphard, Juanita Lane, Carolyn Carter and husband Mack, and Ilene Ferguson and husband Fred who she thought of as a brother; brothers, George Morelock and Roy Morelock and wife Louise; half-brother, Lonnie Kyle Hall; several nieces and nephews; and special Christian friend to Rosie and her family, Dorothy Trent.
A special thanks to Debbie Sturgill and Leslie Carrier and the 300 Wing staff of Holston Manor for their special care and kindness for the last five months.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Monday with Pastor Lelbert Thornburg officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eastern Star Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
