Roy Lee Archer

Roy Lee Archer, 90, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born and had lived in Kingsport all of his life. Roy was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army Medical Corp in New Guinea. He retired from TEC after 44 years of service and was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jessee Harold Archer; parents, Monroe and Eliza Archer; sister, Nell Rector; nephew, J.L. Harrison; two brothers-in-law, Clarence and Charles Needham and one sister-in-law, Betty Davis.

Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Archer; nephew, Ernest Harrison and wife, Louise; two nieces, Phyllis Harrison and Patsy Wilson and husband, Harry; sisters-in-law, Frances Dolen and husband, Pat, Nina Grimes and husband, Jim, Brenda Seavers and Barbara Leamon and husband, Louis; brother-in-law, Jackie Needham and wife, Joan; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 6th 2011 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Jeff Strong and Rev. Jesse Wooten officiating.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday, December 7th, 201 at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Star Cemetery, Kingsport. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Littleton, Ovele Archer and Senior Men's Sunday School Class. Honorary pallbearer will be Norman King.
