Roy Donald Ramsey

Roy Donald Ramsey, 85, Piney Flats, TN, passed away at the CLC of the Mountain Home VA on Monday morning, October 15, 2018. Donald was born in Sullivan County where he had resided his entire life other than his military service during the Korean War when he served in the US Army. Donald formerly worked at McClure Motors, Mason Dixon Freight Line, and the US Postal Service until retiring. He was a member of New Bethel Presbyterian Church, VFW Boone Dam, Eastern Star/Bluff City, and M.M. Martin Masonic Lodge #547 F&AM. Donald was a member of Teamsters #549. He enjoyed farming and showing his antique tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. and Vada King Ramsey; sister, Louise Humphries; and brother, Hal Ramsey.

Donald is survived by his wife, Boots A. Ramsey of the home; daughter, Linda Penley and husband, Jim; son, Eddie Ramsey and wife, Sharon; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Penley (Ashley), Matt Ramsey, Emily Corey (Chris) and Michelle Fuller (Daniel); 3 great-grandchildren, Easton Corey, Leanna Penley, Emma Grace Corey and soon to be baby, Fuller; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at New Bethel Presbyterian Church with the Masonic Service to follow. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Gary Edwards, Rev. Eric Spoon and Dr. Angus Shaw officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at New Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Penley, Matt Ramsey, Chris Corey, Scott Ramsey, Steve King, Tom Hauk, Allen Ramsey and Daniel Fuller. Honorary pallbearers are Vic Burdine, Simon Barr, George Bentley, Scotty Deel and Harold Barnes.
