Roy "Moe" Cloud Jr

Roy "Moe" Cloud, Jr., 87, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Roy graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School class of 1950 where he was on the track and basketball teams. He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Saipan. He worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for over 30 years. Roy was a TSSAA Referee for over 35 years. He belonged to the American Legion and was a member of Colonial Heights Methodist Church for 59 years. For over 20 years, he honored servicemen and women by placing flags on their graves on Memorial Day. He was involved in Colonial Heights Athletic Commission, coaching various sports and different levels. He liked golfing, growing tomatoes and sitting by the fire.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie B. and Roy Cloud, Sr.; twin brother, Ray Cloud; brother, Paul Cloud; and sister, Betty Fincher.

Roy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Alice "Tip" Lane Cloud; sons, Danny "Moe" Cloud of Church Hill, Johnny Cloud and wife, Ginger Louann, and David Cloud and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Dane, Hayley, Lexi, Alanna, Chloe, Brody, Sydney Rose, Drew and Sarah; nieces, Tracie Fincher and Terri McCormick; nephew, Robert Cloud; and extended family in Virginia and Alabama.

Special friends; Pat and Humphrey Germagian, Carl Bacon and Owen Allgood.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Robert Burlingham officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
