Roy Howard Poore

Roy Howard Poore, of Jonesborough, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. He went to be with his Lord and Savior at 74 years of age. Roy was a fun-loving man with a love for his church and Lord, all people, all kinds of music, lawnmowers, and all things grass!

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Walker; stepfather, Gene Walker; and brothers, Bobby and Billy Joe Poore.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, who will remember August 14, 2024, as both their 52nd wedding anniversary and Roy’s home going to heaven; son, Rodney Poore of Johnson City; daughter, Wendy Leedy (Randy) of Jonesborough; grandchildren, Rodney “Kenneth” Poore, Brittany Poore, Adam Leedy (Sara), and Jacolyn Poore; siblings, Jackie Poore (Maxie), Jerry Poore (Linda), Randal Walker, Etta Pippin (Ernest), Ruby Robertson, Leona Gregg (Eddie), and Delores Bruner; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and was blessed with a host of special friends and his church family.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Gray Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Darin Harrison officiating.

Pallbearers will be Randall Walker, Josh Robertson, Randy Leedy, Kenneth Poore, Adam Leedy, and Rodney Poore.
