Roy "Truck Driver" Rowland, 58, Fall Branch, TN, was called home Monday, December 10th, following an extended illness. Roy was born in the Mill Creek area where he had lived his entire life. He was a truck driver, having worked at Quebecor World for 33 years and then Circle V until his recent illness. "Truck Driver" loved to ride his motorcycle and loved his family and never met a stranger. Roy was a member of the Eagles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Elva Rowland; brother, Tommy "Bald Eagle" Rowland; and grandson Jordan O'rion Necessary.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Amanda Rowland and James Crawford of Kingsport; son, Brandon S. Rowland and Buffy Ketron of Fall Branch; four grandchildren, Devon Rowland, Dustin Necessary, Tyler Barrett and Kaitelyn "Bright Eyes" Barnette; sister, Betty Sue Vermillion and husband Jack of Kingsport; two brothers, Edward Graham Rowland and wife Elsie of Fall Branch, and John Ezra Rowland of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and three special friends, Malcolm Hill, Gerald Shelton, and Gregory "Hoppy" Hopson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 13th from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch, and at anytime at the home of the son and the home of the daughter. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Bob Simpson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 14th at 2:00 pm at Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Rowland, Scott Absher, Tommy Jones, Gregory "Hoppy" Hopson, Johnny "Mr. Dean" Odle, Roger Carter, Randy Ewing and Wes Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Malcolm Hill, James Crawford, Mike Bowser, James Stewart and Gerald Shelton.
