Ruby Lois Allgood, 78, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loved ones, after an extended illness. She was a faithful member of Ketron Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lakie Shaffer; three brothers, Lloyd Shaffer, Charlie Shaffer, and Earl Shaffer; and two sisters, Ethel Shaffer and Velda Peters.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jack Allgood, of Kingsport; three sons, Roger Allgood, Sr., of Kingsport, Reggie Allgood and wife, Sandy, of Gray, and Roger Allgood, Jr., and wife, Leissa, of Mount Carmel; a daughter, Jackie Wells and husband, Dwight, of Kingsport; five granddaughters, Lori Genson and husband, Chris, Robin Allgood, Dusty Sutherland and husband, Jason, Shelley Winkle, and Darla Waycaster and husband, Billy; 13 great-grandchildren; three loving sisters, Opal Keller, of Kingsport, Stella Smith and husband, Gene, of Oak Ridge, TN, and Pauline Shipley, Merriot Island, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will follow at 7:00, with Rev. Olen Cassell and Rev. Chris Fields officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
