Ruby H. Baker

Ruby Gulnel Hoard Baker, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 2, 2008.

She was born in Hawkins County and had resided in Kingsport since 1970. Ruby enjoyed cooking and helping neighbors and friends in any way. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George Doty Baker in 1986; a stepson, George N. Baker in 2000; and a brother Doc Randall Hoard in 2006.

Surviving are four sons, Donnie G. Cobb, Darrell E. Baker and wife Angie, Timothy Baker, and Travis H. Baker all of Kingsport; four grandchildren, David Cobb, Tracey Cobb, Michael Lane, Brandy Bryant; seven great-grandchildren, Johnathan Cobb special great-grandson, Avery Cobb, Aaron Cobb, Aubrey Cobb, Zachary Cowden, Matthew Cowden, Ryleigh Bryant; one sister, Betty Hoard of Morristown, TN; one brother, Marvin Hoard of Rogersville; special friend, Houston Seal; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Baker and Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Cobb, Dave Cowden, Michael Lane, Roger Hall, Dennis Hall, Barry Williams, and Kevin Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Saige Strickler, Johnathan Cobb, and Michael Woods.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Adventa Hospice for their loving care and a very special heartfelt thanks to those who helped with Mom's care at home.
