Ruby Tomlinson Childress, 87, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord 11:55 a.m. Saturday September 26, 2009.
Born in VA, she had lived in Kingsport for most of her life.
Ruby was an avid reader and loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Childress; her parents, Floyd C. and Martha Dora Duncan Tomlinson; brothers, Logan Tomlinson, Walter Tomlinson, Raymond Tomlinson, and Lester Tomlinson; sisters, Grace Wagner Butler, Mary Alice Childress, and Minnie Mabe; daughter-in-law, Judy Childress; son, Lester Childress; and grandson, Chris Childress.
Surviving are her son, Warren C. Childress; grandchildren, Melissa Childress, Craig Childress, Duane Childress and wife, Tracy; and Sherri Rowland and husband, Faron; great-grandchildren, Ciara Childress, Tori Childress, Shayne Rowland, and Cody Rowland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Harris and Rev. Michael Robison officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Wagner, Faron Rowland, Cody Rowland, Shayne Rowland, Joe Good, and Joey Good.
