Ruby Jackson Franklin, 82, Kingsport passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Franklin was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Good Cheer Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Franklin; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson; and all ten of her brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah K. Franklin of the home; son, Phil Franklin and wife Judy of Blountville; grandchildren, Jaime Orloff and husband John, Gary Helton, Alex Franklin and wife Leah, Jonathan Franklin, and Andrew Franklin; five great-grandchildren, James, Hannaha, Alexis, Abigail, and Timberly; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Pearl Stafford.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Brian Schuler officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank Wellmont Hospice for their kind services, care, and support. Also special thanks to Belinda Duncan, Linda Grills, Mary Fuller, and Connie Cope whose caring during her illness is so very much appreciated.

Ruby's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Temple Baptist Church, 220 Memorial Court, Kingsport, TN 37664; Wellmont Hospice Program, P. O. Box 238, Kingsport, TN 37662; or the charity of one's choice.
