"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." John 6:47
Ruby L. Honeycutt, 81, defeated Alzheimer's on December 26, 2010, when she went to be with the Lord in her heavenly home. Over time, the disease prevented her remembering precious loved ones and life experiences; but her faith in Jesus Christ has made her now and forever whole.
Those who knew her will never forget that Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor.
She was a devoted member of Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Ruby retired from Sullivan County Schools, where she worked as a teacher's aide at Sullivan Elementary School for 18 years.
Ruby loved her family dearly: her late husband, John, of fifty years; sons John and Jeff and their wives, Susie and Jane, respectively; daughter Pashia; four grandsons, and three granddaughters-in-law: Sean and Tiffany Hogan, Hank and Amy Hogan, Morgan and Jamie Honeycutt, and Dylan Honeycutt and fianc e, Katie Lombardozzi.
In addition to husband John, Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Roy Luster; infant daughter, Sandra Cheryl; stepfather, Charles Duckett, and mother, Pashie Duckett; sisters, Blanche Flynn and Kathleen Epps.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., with burial to follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
