Ruby Lee Brumley Light of the Rock Springs Community was born November 27, 1925, and passed to her eternal life on October 11, 2012.
She married the love of her life, Harold Richard Light in Greenville, South Carolina on April 2, 1946. Yes, they enjoyed a wonderful life together for 66 years! Harold was her loving and attentive caregiver after her health began to fail. Ruby always said " I've loved him since the first time I saw him and I am a lucky woman".
She graduated from Fall Branch High School as class salutatorian. Early in their marriage, they moved to Riverside, Ca., where they had their first two of six children. In 1951, they moved to Kingsport where Ruby lived the remainder of her life. She was employed at Kingsport Press and Mead Corporation before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. She was a woman of faith and a member of Fall Branch Baptist Church.
Ruby was a beautiful woman who traveled many highways, loved sunsets, good books of different genres, autumn foliage, gathering seashells by the shore, visiting with family and friends, caring for her family... .and a good jam cake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and Clifford Brumley, and her dear sister, Eula Jackson.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Harold, and daughters, Donna Long of Church Hill, Nancy Seckman and Shirley Muck Darryl of Kingsport; sons, Stephen Light of Azusa, Ca, Rudy Light Sue of Yuba City, Ca, and Kenneth Light of Kingsport; grandchildren, Pamela Long, Michael Long Beth Dorton, Richard Brookman Amy, Melinda Brookman, Elizabeth Muck, Mary Light, Cody Light, Elizabeth Light; brothers, Jack Brumley, Howard Brumley, Bobby Brumley and Jerry Brumley; sisters, Mildred Bruner, Jean Pinson, Helen Hammonds; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 6-8 with the memorial service immediately following at 8. The graveside service will be at Fall Branch Baptist Church cemetery the following day at 1:00 pm.
