Ruby Long

Ruby Rogers Long, 91, of Kingsport was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

She was born on April 20, 1921 in Ft. Blackmore, Virginia the daughter of the late T. E. Rogers and Carrie Rogers.

Mrs. Long was a homemaker and the oldest charter member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and church and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents and stepmother, Laura, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Frank Long, in 2006; and four sisters, Helen, Margaret, Lois and Joan; and two brothers, Jess and David.

Survivors include her son, Bill Long and wife, Linda; daughter, Linda Davenport and husband, Alvin; four grandchildren, Chris Long, Melissa Jones, Susan McDavid and husband, Chris, and Eric Davenport and wife, Gina; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Brandon, Cadence and Adilynn. She is also survived by three sisters, Lorene Mullins, Jenny Kinsler and Dorothy Lane; and three brothers, Orville, Frankie and Harvey Rogers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Todd Jennings and Rev. Gary Calhoun officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 11:45 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Eric Davenport, Austin Jones, Chris McDavid, Gene Mullins, Mike Lane and Emmett Smith.
