Ruby R. Cody

Ruby Rowland Cody, 84, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 18, 2016, after an extended illness. Born in Kingsport, where she had resided all of her life, Ruby was an inspiration to many people. She was very active at Kingsley United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Bruce Cody; parents, Lawrence and Beulah Rowland; brother, Ed Rowland; and sister, Patricia "Pat" Goins.

Ruby is survived by three sons, Mark B. Cody and wife, Vicki of Kingsport, Dan Cody and wife, Kim of Church Hill, and Roger L. Cody of the home; six grandchildren, Brandy, Amber, Karissa, Jordan, Christy and Priscilla; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Conley and husband, J.D. of Jonesborough, and Nancy Rowland Harkleroad of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport and at any time at the home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Amos, Sr. and Rev. Adam Love officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
