Ruby Nell Shipley

Ruby Nell Shipley, 86, of Gray TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16 at Life Care Center of Gray.

She was born in Scott County VA and had resided in Gray since 1957. Ruby retired from North Electric/ITT. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and had attended Tri Cities Baptist Church.

Ruby loved traveling with her husband, painting in water colors and oils and gardening, sewing and cooking. She was a doting mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Frank Shipley, Sr.; parents John S. Murray & Maude Davis Murray; sister, Margaret Cleo Murray; and an infant sister.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Susan Shipley Leeper of Gray, and fiancé Charles-Alexandre Cartron, Phillip David Shipley & wife, Jenny of Bluffton, SC, James Frank Shipley, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Gray; grandchildren, Amanda Shipley Sullivan, Jacqueline Shipley Miller, Christopher Aaron Leeper, Katie Shipley Brimanson, Matthew Shipley, Hannah Leeper Grayson, Wendy Tomlinson, Brian Poteet; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Wyatt, Ft. Myers FL, Lola Peterson, Duffield VA; and several nieces & nephews.

The family extends a special thanks to Jill Reeder for her loving care of Ruby.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Minister Clinton Andrews of Crossroads Christian Church officiating.

Entombment will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at Washington County Memory Gardens.
