Ruby "Shirley" Eldridge Huffman

Ruby "Shirley" Eldridge Huffman, age 82 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born in White Pine, TN on November 19, 1935, a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Maxie Robinette Eldridge, she had resided in this area since 1991. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1954 and attended ETSU. Shirley was a homemaker and member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted momma, grandma and friend who loved arts and crafts and being a seamstress.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Huffman; two brothers, William Thomas Eldridge Jr. and Kenneth Eldridge; and sister, Blanche Frazier.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Jackie D. Huffman of Riverview Florida, and Matthew D. Huffman and wife, Kristie of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; daughter, Melissa Busick and husband, Anthony of Kingsport; granddaughter, Erin Peters of Mississippi; grandson, Drake Huffman of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Michelle Salyer and family.

The family will receive friends from 12-2pm Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson, Downtown and at other hours at the residence of her daughter. Graveside services and burial will follow at Light Cemetery with her son, Matthew D. Huffman, officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew D. Huffman, Jackie D. Huffman, Anthony L. Busick, Johnny H. Frazier, Terry W. Eldridge and Cody L. Salyer.
