Ruby C. Taylor, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2007, passing quietly in her sleep after a long illness.
Born in Sullivan County to Nathaniel Crawford and Callie Mae Hammonds Crawford, she had resided in the Kingsport area all her life until she relocated to Fall Branch in 1999. Mrs. Taylor attended church at Charity Baptist in Blountville, TN, until her health failed and she entered Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center.
She was a retiree of Rental Uniform Company following 30 years of service as a seamstress. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was cherished by her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Nathan and Callie Crawford; and two brothers, Rutledge Crawford and John Crawford.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Taylor and husband, Gray Taylor of Fall Branch, TN. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Phoebe Taylor of Fall Branch, David Taylor and wife, Debbie Taylor, Rogersville, and Jonathan Taylor, Tampa, FL.
She had six great-grandchildren, Megan Imel, Hannah Taylor, Seth Taylor, Noah Taylor, Ashlee Taylor, Emaline Taylor. She is also survived by her close friend, Bobbie Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Her surviving brother, Jack Crawford and wife, Irene, reside in Church Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Pastor Perry Cleek and Rev. David Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Family members and friends will meet at the cemetery.
