Ruby Thelma Babbs Williams

Ruby Thelma Babb Williams, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born on March 10, 1924, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Carl and Rosa Babb; but resided in Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Sullivan High School and was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved quilting and sewing for her family.

Mrs. Williams was a former member of Solomon?s Temple Missionary Baptist Church, a current member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of the Ladies II Sunday School Class. She served as secretary/treasurer of Women on Mission for several years, and she loved her church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Wallace Ray Williams, Sr.; a son, Wallace Ray Williams, Jr.; a grandson, Wallace Ray Williams, III; a daughter, Deborah Adkins; a sister, Lydia Conkin; and two brothers, Henry and L. C. Babb.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Canty and husband, Jim, Kingsport; one son, Gary Williams and wife, Linda, Kingsport; eleven grandchildren, Karen Prillhart, Jennifer Cheek, Dinah Jo Dykes, Elizabeth Dunn, John Williams, Chris Dykes, Mark Canty, Kevin Dykes, Sheri Williams, Amy Franklin, Lydia Nikki Williams; nine great-grandchildren, Becky Williams, Alexis Rae Prillhart, James Prillhart, Zachary Dunn, Lucas Dunn, Kaylee Cheek, Hannah Johnson, Zane Franklin, and Austin Williams; two brothers, Carl and J. L. Babb; and four sisters, Molly Brignac, Barbara Sizemore, Daisy Walden, and Hassie Hurt.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Kelly and Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be John Williams, Kevin Dykes, Chris Dykes, Mark Canty, Alan Prillhart, Lee Dunn, James Prillhart, and Ben Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Dunn, Lucas Dunn, Austin Williams, and Zane Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Love Meals Fund of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 125 Coley Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
