Ruth Salyer Burke

Ruth Salyer Burke, 83, of Kingsport, TN, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, following an extended illness.

Born in Russell County, VA, Mrs. Burke was a graduate of Temple Hill High School, and was employed by Mason-Dixon for several years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Salyer, and father, Arnold Salyer; and by two brothers, Dallas and Harold Salyer.

Survivors included her loving husband of over 61 years, Paul Burke; her daughter, Sharon Herr and husband Fred of Kingsport; her grandchildren, Joe and Laura Herr of Kingsport; two sisters, Marie Sparks and Annalee Salyer of Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Eunice Salyer; nephews, Ronald Salyer and wife Sherry, Tommy Salyer and wife Joyce, David Salyer and wife Pennya€"all of Kingsport; nieces, Lisa Morelock and Connie Rogers; great nephews, Brian Salyer, Jeff Salyer, Matthew Salyer, Andy Large, and Cody Morelock; great nieces, Kristin Salyer, Jennifer Campbell, Caitlyn Morelock, and Cassidy Morelock; and 6 great-great nephews, Jonathan Salyer, Jordan Salyer, Aaron Johnson, Samuel Carter, Corey Carter, and Austin Salyer.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday May 15, 2012 at Hamlett-Dobson in Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Morelock officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
