Anna Ruth Buchanan Elliott, of Nottingham Village, Northumberland, PA, since August 2006, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Riverwoods in Lewisburg, PA.
She was born on August 20, 1923, in Leona Mines, Lee County, VA, the daughter of William Allen and Addie Amanda Robison Buchanan. She completed public schools in Bonnie Blue and St. Charles, VA, and attended Knoxville Business College after moving to Kingsport, TN. Employed as a secretary in the Traffic Department of Tennessee Eastman Company, she married Dr. James Bartley Elliott in 1953, and thereafter worked to make and keep a warm home for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; by her brother Jonathan Winfield Buchanan; sisters Mildred Louise Buchanan and Billie Jean B. Arnold; brothers- and sister-in-law Bill Arnold, Robert T. Banks, S. Carson Crawford, and Ruby Buchanan; and nephew Larry Buchanan.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James Mark Elliott and Adelyn Nichols Elliott; granddaughters Adelyn Amanda Elliott and Anna Amelia Elliott, all of Lewisburg, PA; her sisters Nell B. Banks, Bristol, TN, Christine B. Crawford, Owensboro, KY, and Frances B. and brother-in-law Thomas H. Hammonds, Westfield, IN; along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and relations.
Visitors will be received at First Broad Street United Methodist Church, on Church Circle in Kingsport, TN, from 9:30 ? 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 19, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Jack Edwards and Rev. Jack Weikel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
