Ruth Miller Johnson Gossett, 99, of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at NHC Health Care in Johnson City, TN. Ruth was born on February 4, 1915 in Asheville, NC, a daughter of the late Norman Hardy and Grace Laura Johnson. She had lived over 50 years in Kingsport, TN and was an active member of Mafair United Methodist Church until she was 96 years old.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gossett; son, Ralph Junior Gossett; son-in-law, Richard Hensley; son-in-law, Ron Witt; sister, Alyne Turner; brother, Norman Johnson Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Annie Witt.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Beverly Hensley and her children, Rick Hensley and wife, Gina, Pam Dingus and husband, Don, Teresa Blackwell and husband, Mark; son, Charles Gossett and wife, Peggy and their son, Jeff; daughter, Judy Witt and her son, Joey and wife, Amanda; sister, Sloanie Green; 5 great-grandchildren, Matt and Taylor Hensley, Austin and Zack Blackwell, and Jordan Witt; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Kim Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
