Ruth Suit Huffman, 86, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at Preston Place Suites.
She was born in Rhoda, VA and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. Huffman worked for Kingsport Press, and after raising her family, she worked for the Sullivan County Purchasing Department for several years.
Mrs. Huffman has been a member of the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church since 1963, where she was also a member of the choir. She was very active in the community and a number of clubs and organizations.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth Huffman; parents, Ransom M. Suit, Sr. and Minnie Pearl Gibson Suit; two sisters, Carlos Sparks and Charlotte Wilson; three brothers, Ralph Suit, Ransom Suit, Jr., and Jack Suit; and a nephew, Harold Sparks.
Surviving are four daughters, Judy Huffman of Beaumont, TX, Jenny Morton and husband, Rob of Seattle, WA, Janice Fields and husband, Chester of Kingsport, Jo Anna Stanley and husband, Derrick of Beaumont, TX; two grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica Fields; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert L. Smith and Rev. Phillip Goins officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Rob Morton, Chester Fields, Derrick Stanley, Donnie Minga, Chuck Huffman, Steve Wright, Tim Wright, and Jacob Fields.
Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan Suit, Ralph Suit, Don Williamson, and Joseph Huffman.
