Ruth McConnell Easley Jones, 84, died Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born and raised in Scott County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Phillip S. McConnell and Wanda Burke McConnell. Ruth attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, majoring in Nursing. She worked as an LPN for Holston Valley and Indian Path Hospitals and was a member of First Christian Church in Kingsport.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Davie Easley; her second husband, Eldridge C. Jones; her brother, Elmo J. McConnell; and her sisters, Elaine Renfro and Lottie Bell Erickson.
Surviving are her daughter and spouse, Patsy Jean and Rev. John Fraizer of Columbus, Ohio; her sons and spouses, Gary P. and Judi Easley of Kingsport, Dr. Richard W. and Amy Easley of Waco, Texas, and Jeffrey Alan and Tanya Easley of Fulton, Illinois; her stepchildren and spouses, Maysel and Roy Hutson of Kingsport, Jan and Ernest Butch Whitaker of Mt. Carmel, TN, and Charles and Rita Jones of Mt. Carmel, TN; her grandchildren, Cammie Fraizer Honaker, John Fraizer II, Amy Easley Pangelinan, David Easley, Elizabeth Easley, Alex Easley, Ryan Easley, Preston Easley, Terra Easley, and Mackie Easley; her step-grandchildren, Chip Whitaker, Steve Whitaker, Tim Hutson, David Hutson, Katrina Jones, Yolanda Jones; and several great-and step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11th, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. John Fraizer will officiate.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
