Mrs. J. T. Ruth Ogan, 83, of Airport Acres went to her Heavenly Home Thursday morning, November 27, 2008, at her home.
She was born in Claiborne County, Tennessee, where she resided until moving to Blountville in 1967. Ruth was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church in New Tazewell, Tennessee, and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She also volunteered in the Meals on Wheels Program and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Minnie Stone Chittum; three brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Nathan Ogan.
Surviving are her husband, J. T. Ogan of the home; one daughter, Dina Sullivan and husband Mike of Kingsport; four sons, Rodney Ogan of Blountville, Douglas Ogan and wife Karen of Kingsport, Victor Ogan and wife Leta of Bloutville, Richard Ogan and wife Melony of Blountville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Mozingo of Tazewell, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Al South and Pastor Scott Thompson officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Those attending should meet at the cemetery.
