Ruth Wetzel

Ruth Wetzel, 88, formerly of Kingsport,TN, died Wednesday morning, November 13, 2019 at The Pearl in Dallas, GA after an extended illness.  Born in Bluefield, WV, she had resided in Kingsport since the late ‘90s.  She had worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years. Ruth had a very close relationship to her Lord and was strong in her faith.  Her family and friends would often rely on her for spiritual counseling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Noah Vaught and Rosa Brown Vaught; husband, Donald K. Wetzel; 3 sisters, Mary Vaught Ratcliff, Eva “Jackie” Vaught Gaidowsky, and Dorothy “Dot” Vaught Biancalana; and 3 brothers, Marvin “Bus” Brown Vaught, William “Boo” Joseph Vaught, and Raymond “Pete” Randolph Vaught.

Ruth is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Costello and husband, Hank of Dallas, GA, and Dory Creech and husband, Greg of Kingsport; TN son, Kenny Wetzel of Deltona, FL; 5 grandchildren, Peter and wife, Ashley, Patrick and wife, Rachel, Christy and husband, Travis, Jamie and wife, Jenna and Matthew and wife, Kara; 10 great-grandchildren;  and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, with niece, Rev. Dr. Linda V. Hutton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
