Ruthann "Imogene" Whittemore Myers, 71, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Church Hill Healthcare and Rehab Center after an extended illness.
She lived in West View area of Kingsport all her life, was a 1955 graduate of Lynn View High School, and graduated from ETSU receiving a degree in nursing. Throughout the years she worked at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Indian Path Medical Center, and home health care. Mrs. Myers was of the Baptist faith and was an accomplished pianist who loved to play the Lord's music.
She was a loving wife, mother, frienda"and will be missed by those who loved her. "Mama, Go rest high on that mountain"a"Jeffrey.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Goldie Whittemore; brothers, Sherrill Whittemore, Rand Whittemore, Paul Whittemore, R. C. Whittemore; and a sister, Patsy Whittemore Johnson.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Donald R. Myers; one son, Jeffrey Wayne Myers and wife Pamela of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Sgt. Clinton Wayne Myers and wife Rachel of Gray, Brandi Michelle Bell and husband Doug of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Logan Thomas Massengill of Mt. Carmel, TN; two great-grandchildren, Paxton Douglas Bell and Cooper Langston Bell; one brother, Jim Whittemore and wife Elizabeth of Kingsport; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Whittemore, Georgie Whittemore; two special sisters-in-law, Jeanette and Everette Crawford and Ruth Smith; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend, her beloved "Tinker".
The family extends a special thanks to Church Hill Healthcare & Rehab Center, Dr. Shubba Chatra, Dr. Mark Jenkins, and Dr. Stan Hodges for the loving care she received.
Receiving of friends will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Lonnie "Buddy" Wooten, Jr. and Pastor Mike Stout officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Clinton W. Myers, Logan Massengill, Douglas Bell, Phil Whittemore, Jerry Whittemore, and Lowell Crawford.
