Sam Hite, 85, Fall Branch, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Sam was born in Kingsport and had lived in Fall Branch for most of his life. He was a proud veteran having served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II. Sam retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986. He had enjoyed hunting with several close friends over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P. F. and Ola Hite; brother, P. V. Hite; and a grandson, William Rhoten.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Donna Hite, Fall Branch; one daughter, Becky Rhoten and husband Patrick of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Jake Rhoten and Jessica Rhoten; three sisters, Verna Brookshire of Fayetteville, NC, Louise Russell of Kingsport; and Doris Shanks and husband Tom of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson with Rev. Victor Wallace and his nephew, Lt. General Ron Hite, United States Army Retired, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Posts #3/265.
