Samuel D. Murray, 60, Kingsport, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.
Samuel retired from the U. S. Army as well as the Sullivan County Sheriff?s Department. He was a beloved husband, father, Pap Pap, and brother. Samuel was a very private man who loved his family. He was a good provider as well as husband, father, and Pap Pap. Samuel was a generous man to the people he loved and gave more than he should have. But for those he loved, he would have given the world. He was a simple man who enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. But most of all for all who knew him, he was a true hero. May the Lord take him home and keep him, and may the Lord help us to carry on in his absence.
He is survived by his wife, Sonya Murray of the home; one daughter, Dusk Banks and husband Shayne of Church Hill; one son, Robin Murray and wife Lisa of Booneville, NC; six grandchildren, Ashley, Jamey, Levi, Saige, Leah, and Jacob; two brothers, John Murray and Phillip Murray and their families.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Playl officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
