Sam Trent

Sam Trent, 62, of Blountville, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Weber City Church of God, where he was known as a man of great faith who loved to sing praises to his Savior. He was employed with YRC Frieght. Sam was a Trucker's Trucker, earning the Million Mile safe driver award. He was a simple man who loved good food, family, and friends, and never hesitated to tell each one how much they were loved and always greeted them with a hug and kiss.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Trent; mother, Rachel Trent; son, Bill Trent; sister, Janie Trent; and brother, Dan Trent.

Sam is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jo Ann Trent of Blountville; two sons, James Trent of Church Hill, and Aaron Trent of Blountville; daughter, Amanda Goad and husband Scott of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Jackson Goad, Jared Goad, and Jenna Trent; four brothers, John Trent of Michigan, Dave Trent and wife Margaret of Knoxville, Steve Trent and wife Libby of Blountville, and Joe Trent and wife Ruth of Telford; three sisters, Susie Wright and husband Stuart of Kingsport, Amy Lockett and husband Eric of Kingsport, and Heidi Emmert and husband Jeff of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow with Rev. Raymond Hammonds, Duane Brewer, Scott Goad, and Rev. Arthur Collins officiating.
