Sammy Brown Copas passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 22, 1936, in Fordtown, TN, the son of William Henry Copas and Lois Jeigh Brown. Sammy was born and raised in Gray, TN, and was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School where he was a stand-out basketball and baseball player. He was an avid farmer and gardener and retired from Holston Defense as a truck driver. Sammy was a member of Sulphur Springs Methodist Church.

 Mr. Copas was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ann and Amanda. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Helen; daughters, Debra Houser, Jennifer Dennison (Richard); sons, Joe Copas (Eva) and Danny Copas (Sharon); grandchildren, Brandon Houser, Lauren Houser (Jon), Michael Copas (Bridget), Hannah Sifford (Matt) and Samuel Dennison; great-grandchildren, Jaicee, Oliver, Colton, Holden, Easton, and Elsie Rhea; sister, Sharon Walker and, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gray Community Cemetery, 193 Liberty Church Road, Gray, TN, officiated by Pastor Scott Brady.

 Pallbearers will be family and friends.
