Samuel Calvin Cox, 88, of Kingsport, went to his heavenly home on January 9, 2013. Born in Sullivan County, Samuel lived all his life in Kingsport and retired in 1985 from Eastman Kodak Company. He was a member of Reservoir Road Missionary Baptist Church and a 55 year member of Kingsport Masonic Lodge 688. Samuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who loved to farm and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Opal Roberts Cox on May 29, 2010; parents, Samuel Payne and Mary Pearl Cox; brothers, Vance, Dennis, Gaines, Cecil and Homer; and sisters, Celia Cox, Marie Cox, Freida Cox, Mary Nell Witcher and Bonnie Sells.
Samuel is survived by his loving son, Darrell and wife, Mitzi of Kingsport; two grandsons, Andy Cox and wife, Stephanie, and Brandon Cox, both of Kingsport; brothers, Clark Cox and wife, Maxie of Kingsport, and Landon Cox and wife, Faye of Kingsport; sister, June Barbee of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and loving caregivers, Sue Puckett and Irene Ramey.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 11th from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 12th at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Grandchildren, nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
