Samuel "Ed" Edson Blanchard, age 91, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016.
He was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. Ed was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp. having served as a RADAR countermeasures operator officer. He worked as an adhesive chemist. Ed retired from Pierce & Stevens Chemical Corporation in Buffalo, NY in 1986 and moved to Kingsport at that time. He enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, volunteering, traveling, reading and participating in several fraternal organizations. He was an active member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by Doris, his wife of 66 years; children, Carol, Robert, David and Nancy; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his sister and brother.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church with Rev. Angus Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the celebration of life. A family committal service will take place at the church's columbarium.
